Standard and 8K Standard: detail first, strength second

What that profile means in practice: crisp, dimensionally accurate, pleasant to sand and prime, and brittle. A standard-resin miniature snaps at thin ankles and sword blades. It is the right resin for busts, display pieces, terrain and anything that lives on a shelf, and the wrong resin for a hinge. The 8K Standard variants are formulated around lower viscosity and easier release from the film rather than around different mechanics.
ABS-Like: the default for anything you will actually handle
ABS-like is a marketing name for photopolymers tuned toward toughness rather than hardness, and it is where most people should start. Elegoo describes ABS-Like Resin V3.0 as engineered for strength, impact resistance and toughness, with parts that tolerate drilling, and specifically calls out a viscosity 25 to 47% lower than ABS-like 1.0 and 2.0, which matters more than it sounds: lower viscosity means the resin flows back under the model faster between layers, peels off the film more easily, and raises the success rate on tall or large-footprint prints.
ABS-Like Ultra is the variant to reach for on thin walls and fragile geometry, described as bending and flexing without breaking, and it is the family that carries the fluorescent colours that glow under blue, violet or UVA light. Note that the glow is a property of the fluorescent colours specifically, not of every Ultra bottle.

The honest decision rule: if the part is going to be struck, clamped, threaded or used outdoors in cold, tough resin is worth the premium over ABS-like. If it is going to sit on a shelf, it is not, and you are paying 60% more per kilo than Standard for mechanical properties you will never load.
Water-washable: convenience, with a waste bill attached
Eighteen listings across plain and ABS-like water-washable variants, priced at a modest premium: $20.99 to $25.99 for a 1 kg bottle against $17.99 to $19.99 for the common alcohol-washed standard and ABS-like bottles. What you buy is the end of storing litres of flammable solvent.
What you do not buy is a lower hazard. The Elegoo water-washable SDS classifies the product Skin Sens. 1 (H317), Skin Irrit. 2 (H315), Eye Irrit. 2 (H319) and Aquatic Chronic 2 (H411), toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects, with precautionary statement P273, avoid release to the environment. The rinse water is contaminated waste. Let the solids settle, cure them in daylight, dispose of them solid, and never use a sink. Handled that way it is an excellent choice, particularly for anyone printing in a space with no good solvent storage.
Plant-Based Resin uses soybean oil as a raw material, is described as BPA-free and compliant with EN 71-3:2013, and publishes hardness 80 to 84 D, viscosity 200 to 400 mPa.s and exposure of 20 to 60 s bottom, 1.5 to 15 s normal. Its published flexural strength is 19.86 MPa plus or minus 10%, roughly a third of Standard's 59 to 70 MPa, so treat it as a low-odour display resin rather than a functional one.
Rapid Standard Resin is built around speed: viscosity as low as 60, exposure as short as 0.5 to 1.8 seconds, and a claimed 3x faster printing when paired with ACF release film on the Saturn 3 Ultra and Mars 4 Ultra. It cleans with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol.

Colour changes it too: darker pigments absorb more light. Always run a small exposure test after a family or colour change rather than assuming the last profile carries over.
Is ABS-like resin the same as ABS plastic?
No. It is a photopolymer formulated to behave more like ABS in toughness and impact resistance than a standard resin does. It does not have ABS's heat resistance or its solvent behaviour, and it cannot be acetone-smoothed.
Which resin should a first-time buyer get?
A 1 kg bottle of ABS-like in grey. It is forgiving, tough enough for handling, cheap at $17.99 to $21.99, and its lower viscosity improves the print success rate while you are still learning supports and orientation. Move to Standard for display detail or Tough for mechanical parts once you know what you are making.
Does grey really matter, or is it just what is in stock?
It matters. Grey shows surface detail and layer defects clearly under raking light, which is exactly what you want when inspecting a test print, and it primes evenly. Clear and translucent resins hide flaws until after you paint.
How long does resin keep?
Elegoo lists a one-year shelf life on Standard Resin and instructs to shake well before use, store away from direct sunlight and dust, and keep the container tightly closed. Date the bottle on opening; a 12 kg case is only a saving if you will use it inside that window.
